What is Hearts for Honduras?

Hearts for Honduras was born out of the need to help many families who had lost their homes after the devastating Hurricane Mitch on October 31, 1998. Pastor Alex Merlo, moved by the tragedy that destroyed much of the Central American countries, organized the project and He invited three friends to accompany him and build three houses near the city of San Pedro Sula.  In June 1999, the first constructions could be carried out with the fellowship and logistical support of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church of San Pedro Sula and the leadership of Pastor Daniel Romero.

This ministry of love and compassion has been very blessed through the years and obediently following the Word of God that says:

35 Because I was hungry, and you fed me; I was thirsty, and they gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and they welcomed me; 36 I was naked, and they covered me; I was sick, and they visited me; I was in jail, and they came to visit me. " Matthew 25: 35 - 36

In the early years our ministry focused on building homes for families. In recent years "Hearts for Honduras" has focused on the construction of schools for primary education in communities of extreme need.  We believe that education is the best tool for children to have better opportunities and thus achieve their academic dreams and achieve a better life for the good of themselves and their country. During the nine days of stay in Honduras, we invested our time in three different activities: Construction, Health, Cristina Education for children and adults.

We are a non-profit organization "non profit organization 501-c3"

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have suspended our mission trips for the time being. Our desire is to return to Honduras and continue our projects of love in the name of Christ. We hope that by June 2022 this dream will be possible. If you plan to participate in one of our future trips, you can visit our website http://heartforhonduras.com/about-us/  or by filling out the form below so we will keep you informed.
